Color Scheming

We talked themes a little while ago and in that post I explored different colors that could be associated with those event themes. I also briefly mentioned that often in choosing a color scheme you find yourself inadvertently in a particular theme. Where do you start with a color scheme though?! There are several places you can start!

Bridal party color/colors. This may be a decision that is super easy for you! In fact, maybe you're already decided what you want everyone to wear which is awesome. Either way once this decision is made you have one possible starting point.

1. Floral choices! For instance, my favorite flower is a sunflower and I knew I wanted it or a variant, so I started there and worked with colors that matched well with that version of yellow.

2. The season you will get married in or the venue you'll be celebrating at! This is a little more personal, though, because either doesn't particularly mean you HAVE to stay away from certain colors or choose certain schemes. I will say though, it is common to see similar color schemes at different barn venues, different beach venues, or different ballroom/hotel venues.

3. The overall mood you desire for your event. This could be in combination with one of the other options above. If you are getting married in the summer, you might want florals to be bright and therefore lean towards bold and exciting colors. If you are getting married at a barn venue you might choose more subdued, rustic, and peaceful colors. In winter you might lean towards cool colors, considered also peaceful and quiet.
