Today we're going to go over the two more popular themes for events!

First, we have one I mentioned on the blog yesterday...Rustic! Here are the key points to go along with this theme:

  • A rustic theme is perfect for the DIY couple and is a very popular theme amongst couples right now.

  • Decor for a rustic theme can be collected/purchased through lawn sales, barn sales, antique shops, flea markets, and other similar places. You may even find decor options in family members long forgotten lawn sale piles and storage areas!

  • Examples of decor could include mason jars, twine, lace, plenty of wooden items, string lighting, and candles (real or imitation depending on what the venue allows).

  • You can choose a rustic theme for any venue, but most commonly a rustic theme works with more rustic settings such as an old barn, a hall or venue with plenty of exposed woodwork, or an outdoor location (like a field or wooded area).

As you can see these show the different elements that I mentioned above! Personally I love the rustic theme for lots of reasons, one of which is that it's so fun to decorate (and sometimes a little less complicated from a decorating standpoint hehe). Plus I'm just a huge fan of the darker, more natural colors.

Second, of course, a traditional theme! Here are the key points to go along with a traditional theme:

  • This can also be called a Formal theme and takes all those formal aspects that - once upon a time -were standard practice.

  • Decor would be extensive and classic. Meaning it would include all the bells and whistles; full table settings, traditional head table, elaborate floral arrangements, and black tie attire for all bridal party and guests.

  • A traditional theme can be executed at any venue, though I would say that it is more popular in a ballroom setting.

  • Examples of decor might include crystal, roses, ribbon, chiffon, lace with fine details, black overlays on white tablecloths, gold accents, tiered white cake, and many more things.

I would describe the traditional theme as a clean design; white, crisp, and classy.

What do you think? Which would you prefer of these two? I know I said that rustic is my personal favorite, but really I am a fan of whatever wedding design my clients have in mind and I thoroughly enjoy executing it for them!

Happy Planning!!
