The final three themes that I review in my DIY guide are here!!

The first of the final three is a holiday theme! This theme is pretty self explanatory and therefore doesn't need many details. Great for weddings that occur on any holiday (major or otherwise). The most popular being Christmas and New Year’s Eve/Day. Other holidays that are fun for themed weddings are Cinco de Mayo, Independence Day, Halloween, and Valentine’s Day. Really, though, any holiday that you and your partner love is perfect for your wedding if you want to theme it around that holiday!

Choosing to get married on a holiday can add a little extra complication to the planning process depending on which holiday you choose, so make sure you start planning AS SOON AS POSSIBLE to ensure you get all your vendors - especially venue - locked in. Read on for some brief descriptions of the two most popular holidays mentioned above.

Christmas:

  • Lots of reds and greens in decor and attire

  • Christmassy desserts could be featured

  • Favors wrapped as tiny Christmas presents

  • Depending on where in the world you live will depend what time of bridal party attire, but if you are in a colder climate you might feature furs and long sleeves

New Year:

  • Lots of sparkle! Both in attire, decor, and favors

  • Colors would likely include silvers and golds with a complimentary pop - a red or purple for example

  • It's also not uncommon to see a black tie New Year's Eve event

  • If you host a later event you can, of course, include the ball drop in your celebrations! What a great way to kick off the new year.

Up next for the final three is an animal theme! Another simple and straight forward theme. An animal theme is fun and doesn’t necessarily involve live animals but is a great theme if you are passionate about animals together. Fun ways to include animals in your wedding include…

  • Having your family pet(s) be part of the event

  • Each table could be an animal or breed along with, or instead of, numbers

  • Wedding cake/cupcakes and favors can include cute nods to your favorite animals or breeds

Now, our final theme - or at least final as far as the DIY Guide is concerned! A travel themed event! A great theme for the jet setting, camping, hiking, RV-ing, or any other type of traveling couple.

There are many ways to incorporate travel into your event. This could be through the use of globes, maps, location markers, GPS coordinates, or just location names that are important to you as a couple.

Do you like either of these themes? Or maybe aspects of one or two?

That concludes the themes that I included in my DIY Guide BUT these samples are in no particular order and can be used in any way you might like. This is, of course, just a sampling and virtually anything can become a theme for your event. Each of these ideas, and whichever theme you choose for your event, can be used starting with the design of the save the dates and invitations!

Off the top of my head here are a few other ideas for themes:

  • Disney and/or Pixar

  • Literature

  • Famous Couples

  • Cinema

Whatever your event I hope that you find the PERFECT aesthetic that lets you and your partner's love and personalities shine. As always, Happy Planning!!
